Wreck and Whyte

Wreck beach is probably my favourite beach in Vancouver. It seems to always be 5 degrees hotter there and it is perfectly secluded which makes it feel like you arent in a big city at all. The only bad thing is the amount of stairs you have to climb! Whyte Cliff park is in North Van by a bunch of beautiful houses. It wasnt very nice out when we went but it was still very pretty. I was lucky to see a seal when I went there although he wasnt too happy being disturbed while he was sunbathing. Here are some pictures of each place.

Beach time

Its been awhile since I have done any posts mainly because the internet at my place hasnt been working. I went to wreck beach with Barbora awhile ago to take some pictures and hang out. It was a beautiful day and she was alot of fun to shoot. Luckily it wasnt too busy either so we had the oppurtunity to take lots of pictures. They are pretty weary about you taking photos at wreck mostly because its a nude beach. Here are some of my favourites from the day

Extreme table shots

It was Trace's turn this time for a photoshoot and we just went to fishcreek park because there are always lots of places to take pictures there. I only had 1gb of memory left because I had taken so many pics at the wedding so I didnt get to take as many pictures as I was hoping to. Regardless we got some great shots. I did a little photoshop trick in one of the pictures, see if you can find it! Here are my favourite shots from the day.

iPhone Summer

The first day that it felt like summer I walked around commercial and took some pictures. I also went to wreck beach one day and took some pictures but unfortunately my phone died almost right after we got there. I am still favouring the camera+ app right now. Its amazing how good the iphone camera actually is although it will never replace my Canon! Here are some of the pics from those days. (I also included a picture from one of the canucks playoff games downtown.)

Sunny in the South

On thursday I went to White Rock with a friend from work. When I woke up it looked like it was going to be a cold rainy day. Luckily once we got to White Rock it turned out to be a sunny and beautiful! I even got a little bit of a burn. White Rock is so peaceful and pretty and I am really happy I got the chance to take some pictures of the pier and the beach. Here are my favourites(there are lots!) from the day.

Practice makes perfect

Before Lill's wedding I wanted to practice shooting with flash outdoors as well as shooting a white dress. Unfortunately Lucy is going away before I am able to purchase an external flash so we were only able to practice with the white dress. We decided to shoot in North Van at her boyfriends house because he literally has a river in his backyard! I have being playing around in photoshop and I created a simple watermark for fun which I decided to put on the pictures we took. Here are some of my favourties from the day.

Mudjacking

Last weekend I did my first live band shoot at a bar called Malones downtown. It was for a band called Mudjack whose lead singer I met through work. I knew that my kit lens wasnt going to be good enough to use in the low lighting so I bought a new 50mm lens which has a low aperature (meaning it lets in alot of light and is good to use when there isnt much available) The lens was really cheap ($130) and im excited to get to use it again. I decided to try to shoot in RAW format instead of JPEG this time because I wanted to practice editing with it and also because it lets you have alot more control over adding light then JPEG. This helped alot for some of the pictures because the lighting was terrible at Malones, especially when it came to the drummer and bass player. Here are some of my favourite pics from the gig.

Its raining its pouring

I did another photo shoot with Lucy and this time we decided to go to a park close to our places called Queen Elizabeth Park. The day started off a little rainy with a few showers here and there. In the middle of the shoot though it started to pour. Luckily there was a conservatory in the middle of the park that we went into to get a bit dry. Oh and of course to take some pictures in as well! I already have Lucy and I next photo shoot planned out, something a bit more crazy. Here are some of my favourite shots from the day.
